The average American spends 4.51 hours in front of a TV screen everyday, according to the 2015 Nielsen study. That’s almost 19% of a person’s day. Interestingly enough, average Americans, when surveyed, say one of the biggest reasons for not having or purchasing life insurance is that they don’t have enough time during the day.
An average of 650,000 people watched a 60-minute TV show last year called Dating Naked, every week. The premise of the show is 2 people, meeting for the first time, are completely naked and they see if they like each other by the end of the show. Everything is blurred out but you still get the idea. I wonder how many of those Americans, watching that show, have life insurance to protect their family and loved ones if they were to pass away un-expectantly.
20 million people watched the Season 6 premier of The Walking Dead. Granted, the show is pretty awesome. But I wonder again, of those 20 million Americans, how many of them have a plan to provide for their family when they no longer can? How many of those 20 million people have a life policy in force to pay off their home when they die so their family will have a place to live?
Final word – I get it, watching TV is relaxing and fun; buying life insurance is not. But in less than 20 minutes, less than 1 sitcom for 1 week, you can buy a policy that will protect your family and loved ones and provide them a future for them when you no longer can. For an average premium that is far less than your cable bill you can insure that your kids can have money to go to college if you were to pass away. Trust me, it cost less to solve the problem now, than it does to ignore it.
