The Tale of Two Families

Over time there have been a few situations in our community where life insurance played a huge role in two different families' lives. The difference between the two families - one had life insurance, and the other did not.

One comes from a family of five, a husband and wife and three children. The husband, we'll call him John, was very active in his local church and the community. His kids were very active in sports he helped volunteer there was well. John suddenly passed away one evening. The whole community was rocked. Everybody knew and loved John, and those that didn't know him knew of him. The news spread quickly, and all attended his services. A little while after his passing, it was found that John didn't have any life insurance. His wife was struggling and couldn't make ends meet. The community started a Go Fund Me page to help, but they couldn't raise a substantial amount of money. Eventually, John's family ended up selling the home and moving to a less expensive part of the state. It was a tearful goodbye when the children had to leave their community, friends, and sports teams. Losing a father is tough, but inheriting a part-time mother and a new community makes it even more difficult.

The other one was a similar situation. A family of four, the husband was also very active in the community. This one we will call Tim. Tim and his family were also very active in sports, church, and the local events in our city. One day Tim passed away unexpectedly. However, Tim had life insurance. He did not have a lot, but he had some. Tim's wife used the life insurance money to help pay for the mortgage, food, and utilities and made ends meet. In the meantime, she went back to school. She took classes while her young children were in school and were able to be there when her children arrived home. While doing this, she did not have to worry about employment because she had the life insurance money to help pay for the day-to-day expenses.

Tim's wife finished her schooling and was able to get hired as a teacher at the school. Now she could have full-time employment and be home with her children in the afternoon and evenings. Her children were able to stay in the community that they loved. They could remain on the same sports teams and have the same friends. They leaned on these friends and this community to help get them through the tough time of losing their father.

At Aultium, we can not stress enough the importance of having life insurance. If you have dependents, people who rely upon your income, then you need life insurance. We have clients with enough insurance, so their loved ones will never have to work again. We have others that get enough for their families to cover income and living expenses until the children are out of the house or through college. Whether a client chooses to cover themselves for a large or small amount is all up to the individual situation, needs, and budget. But we all know that having something is better than nothing, even if it's a smaller amount. Life insurance is not for the dead; life insurance is for the living because living costs money.
